About Hoover
Founded in 1978 with just 50 charter members in the Barbizon Building on Lorna Road, the Hoover Area Chamber of Commerce has grown alongside the City of Hoover. In 2008, we officially became the Hoover Area Chamber to reflect our expanding reach across Hoover and the surrounding communities in Jefferson and Shelby Counties. Today, we proudly represent nearly 1,000 members in one of Alabama’s fastest-growing regions. Hoover itself has grown from 410 residents in 1967 to over 93,000, making it the sixth largest city in the state and the second largest in Jefferson County.
Our mission is to serve as the catalyst for economic growth by fostering cooperative partnerships and advocating for our members and stakeholders. Simply put, we help local businesses grow, connect, and lead. Through networking events, promotional opportunities, and strategic advocacy, we empower members to broaden their reach and help shape the future of our community.

Small businesses are the backbone of our local economy, and they remain at the heart of our efforts. As the voice of the business community, we collaborate with the City’s Economic Development Department and other partners to drive innovation, entrepreneurship, and workforce development. By building strong connections between leaders, industries, and organizations, we help ensure a vibrant, resilient business environment for all.
Each month, we offer a robust calendar of programs designed to deliver real value—from bi-monthly luncheons and Business After Hours to Coffee & Contacts, Lunch & Learns, and targeted programming for women, entrepreneurs, and civic leaders. There’s something for everyone at every stage of business.
We are a 501(c)(6) member-based nonprofit, funded primarily through membership dues, with additional support from public and private partners. A Chamber membership is more than a benefit—it’s an investment in the growth of your business and in the future of our local economy.
